Discovering The Natural Beauty Of South Sea Pearls

The admiration of beautiful pearls has been passed down through the generations. Grown in the soft tissue of mollusks, also called oysters, the pearls are kept safe by the shell as they grow and mature. Perfect smoothness and roundness will determine the quality in pearls, but shapes will vary. Some of the largest pearls fond in the world are South Sea pearls.

Pinctada maxima is the mollusk that produces the South Sea pearl. Farmed mostly off the coast of Australia, they are also grown in Myanmar, the Philippines and Indonesia. Although pearls can be found growing wild, the majority of pearls today are cultivated in farms in the depths of the sea. South Sea pearls are cultivated this way too.

Most pearls are harvested after nine to sixteen months. One reason the South Sea pearl grows to such a large size is because it is allowed to grow for at least two years. South Sea waters are among the cleanest in the world and that makes food for sea creatures abundant. It is the perfect natural setting for farming gems of extremely high quality.

Cultivation of South Sea pearls is a high tech operation. Highly trained technicians implant the nucleus into oysters, and the process begins. During the growth period the oysters are pampered and watched carefully to make sure growth will be optimal. Many South Sea pearls will grow for up to six years before they are harvested.

After they are harvested, pearls are sorted and then put through a grading process. Pearls that are not perfect are separated from the perfect gems, allowing only the best to be sent to market. Perhaps the most difficult process is matching. Pearls are matched by their size and their shape, which will create the perfect strand.

Technology plays a big role in pearl cultivation, but the most important work is produced by nature. Colors, sizes and shapes will vary in South Sea pearls. Produced in two kinds of oysters, one being the gold-lipped and the other silver-lipped, South Sea pearls will also vary in color depending on where the farm is located.

Hands down, South Sea pearls are among the most beautiful in the world. They will be admired by the entire family and will be family heirlooms for generations far into the future. If you have not yet discovered the beauty nature produces in these fine gems, do so today.

Woman Leaves 500,000 Jewels In Hotel Room.

Relief Of Woman Who left 500,000 Jewellery In Hotel Room

A female hotel guest has been reunited with 500,000 worth of beautiful jewellery after she left it behind in the cupboard of a bedroom in one of London’s most up market hotels. The mystery lady is thought to be either American or Canadian. She checked out of the Mayfair based Westbury hotel forgetting the collection of jewellery that she had placed in her room cupboards.

Some of the items of jewellery were said to include a designer watch, two diamond rings and an expensive necklace and earrings set made up of precious stones. The jewellery was found by a maid at the hotel who luckily made sure they were kept safe until the rightful owner was reunited with them.

It has been reported that the maid proceeded to lock the jewellery in the room before going downstairs to inform the hotel manager of her discovery.

The hotel spokesman had been quoted as saying ‘The chambermaid had changes the beds and vacuumed the room, and was carrying out a routine check of the cupboards and drawers when she discovered them.’ The items have now been returned to their lawful owner thankfully. Hotel staff have commented that the items were extremely unique and, ’stunning,’ in design.

Hotel staff initiated a search of the local area and shops before even looking inn Heathrow airport for the mystery woman. She was nowhere to be found though.

The hotel received a worried phone call from the woman a few days later as she told of how she only discovered her mishap whilst mid flight, where she was unable to do anything about it.

The woman then gave a brief explanation on how she’d forgot the jewellery as she’s been under pressure to get to the airport in time for her flight.

The jewellery has now been returned safely and it is thought that the owner is very thankful to the hotel staff that helped her.

What To Look For When Buying Diamond Jewellery

From showing that special someone how much you love them to actually proposing marriage to them, diamond jewellery is used for a variety of occasions. With all the choices that are available to consumers these days, though, searching for the perfect piece can turn out to be a confusing event. It is extremely important that you know what you need to look for before you start shopping.

Just as an expert diamond buyer would tell you, always watch for the four C’s when buying diamonds. The four C’s are cut, color, clarity and carat.

The cut is a very important factor when it comes to buying diamond jewellery. It gives the diamond its brilliance and also determines the facet count as well. Among those searching for engagement rings, the round brilliant cut is very popular.

The color of a diamond helps to determine its value. Colorless diamonds are considered to be the most valuable and are the most popular choice for engagement jewelry while colored diamonds are more common in non-proposal presents. The color of a diamond will range from D, which is colorless, to Z.

A diamonds clarity is typically determined by passing light through the diamond. The fewer imperfections the diamond has, the more valuable it is. Clarity is measured by a scale of flawless to imperfect according to what the Gemological Institute of America has set for a quality analysis scale.

The weight of a diamond is referred to as carat although the carat is mistakenly thought to be associated with a diamonds size by many people. One carat is equal to 200 milligrams while one ounce is equal to 142 carats. Usually, the larger the diamond is, the more value each carat has.

Now if you are like many shoppers these days and are planning to look online for the right diamond jewellery, you will need to make sure you receive a Certificate of Authenticity from any jeweler you are going to purchase from. It is also a very good idea to check your jeweler out in advance with the BBB to see if any major complaints have been filed.

Use the jewelry shops website search function once you have found a reputable dealer. Be watching for the four C’s that were just discussed. If you don’t see any information about the four C’s in the description then ask about them for any piece you are interested in. Also look in to they type of shipping that will be used as well as purchasing shipping insurance for your package.

Buy The Right Nose Ring…Without The Hassle!

Consider the following when you buy a nose ring:

1) Why not use a normal ear ring?

In some instances you can but the piercing hole of the nostril is generally further away from the edge of the nose than the ear piercing is from the edge of the ear lobe. Should you use an ear ring, it will look funny or could be really uncomfortable. Why would you want to do it when, nose rings or studs are really inexpensive – just get the real deal, its not worth the discomfort.

2) Where should I Pierce my Nose?

Firstly you want to decide were you want the piercing. The most popular piercing is the nostril piercing, but you also get a septum piercing as well a nose bridge piercing. The septum piercing is for a bull ring type nose ring and the bridge piercing is for a stud on either side of the bridge.

3) The Nose Ring Gauge

The gauge refers to the thickness or diameter of your nose ring. The higher the gauge, the thinner the staff that goes into the piercing. Normally you will get an 18 or 20 gauge for a nostril piercing. If you want a thicker ring, you can think of a 16 or 14 gauge, but I would not go bigger than that if I were you. You can always stretch it later if you want to go bigger.

4) What kind of Jewellery?

There are so many different options to choose from, but you have to make sure that you buy a nose ring that suits YOU and YOUR personality. You get hoop nose rings, gold nose studs, studs with a gem, screws and many more. Because the nose studs can only carry a small gem, even the diamond studs are very well priced. The metals you have to choose from is mainly, gold(yellow or white), titanium or stainless steel.

5) Nostril Piercing Infection

If you buy a nose ring you must be aware that you may suffer an infection from the piercing. The nose is not the cleanest organ on your bode which increases the chances of an infection. You must clean the pierced area(without removing the jewellery) twice a day with a light soap. Also soak the pierced area in hot salt water to help reduce the swelling. A small infection and irritation is part of the healing process, so just make sure you clean it with a iodine based antiseptic. If it takes very long to heal, or the swelling increases, go and se a doctor so he can give you some antibiotics.

To buy a nose ring is really exciting and it is a fashion trend that is on the rise, so just make sure you follow the steps above and ensure you make the right selection and then take care of it.
