Secret Silver Jewel Codes For Love

“Feathers make a bird beautiful, and silver jewels make a Miao women gorgeous “, says an old Chinese saying.

Silver accessories to Miao girls are like perfumes for French women. They simply can’t afford to miss them.

The reason? The pieces are not only graceful to wear, but some bear secret code of love.

Take a pair of Flower and Butterfly earrings for example.

If a Miao boy gives a girl a pair of earrings of such a design, he makes a love confession to her.

In Miao culture, the design of butterflies dancing in flower bushes is a symbol of love and romance. A famous Miao legend goes that a young man and a young girl fell in love with each other. Sadly, they came from two feudal families. And they couldn’t be together. Hopeless, they committed suicide together, wishing in their afterlives they could be wife and husband.

So they did. They became a pair of butterflies, and live together happily in a lovely bush of flowers.

Also symbolic of love is the design of a mandarin duck pair.

In Miao culture, the ducks signify devoted love, and for good reasons.

Once paired up, the ducks would stay together for life. And they Miao women believe that love between two persons should be like that. That is two people being together through thick and thin and never get separated.

Such a deep meaning make mandarin duck a popular design of accessory to wear by a Chinese bride.

And the list of love designs goes on: jasmine flowers, magpies, fish, etc. In total, there is an estimated 30 varieties of designs that is symbolic of love in crafting Miao silver products.
